Biography
Mark Porter Fisher was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1955. He is currently a graduate student in the Master of Fine Arts in Pictorial Art program at San Jose State University. He received a B.A. in Art from San Francisco State University in 1989. Since 1990, Mr. Fisher has had numerous paintings and papier mache sculpture in solo and group exhibitions in the San Francisco Bay Area. His most well-known public commissions are his painted designs for anniversary T-Shirts of Royal Coffee Inc. of Emeryville, CA, that feature his creations, the character “Sipping Bull,” and the song “We’ll Be Drinking Coffee on the Moon.” A set of three 32 x 42 inch paintings, “ The ’Pataphysical Triptych,” was purchased by Royal Coffee Inc. ,and is displayed at their coffee laboratory at 2523 Broadway, in Oakland, CA. In 1989, Mr. Fisher painted the portrait of San Francisco Giants owner Robert Lurie on a National League baseball. The oil painted ball was a “thank you” gift from San Mateo Assemblywoman (now Congresswoman) Jackie Speier, to Mr. Lurie to acknowledge San Francisco Giants charity to the needy of San Mateo, CA.
